Cherokee Boulevard Entrance
Designer: Patricia Rutenburg
Embroiderer: Janice Murphy
Year Created: 1998

At the intersection of Cherokee boulevard and Kingston Pike, the
entrance to Knoxville’s first suburb, Sequoyah Hills, was built in the mid–1920s and named for the Indian mound in the road’s median. The
stone entrance pylons or gateposts, in Art Deco style and decorated
with Cherokee motifs, set a theme used in landscape features
throughout the neighborhood.

Chart includes three designs: Cherokee Boulevard Entrance, Crescent Bend Foundation, and Krutch Park Bandstand.
